Who We Are

The Mt. Carmel Public Library system is located at 727 Mulberry St., Mt. Carmel, IL. The Mt. Carmel Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the city limit boundaries with services available to all others for a annual fee of $43.00 for the family.

The Mt. Carmel library holds over 65,804 materials including over 60,394 books, and 5,410 compact discs, cassette tapes, books on cassette, cd-roms. vhs tapes and dvds. These items are available for the patron to check out. 

In total, over 79,810 items were checked out of the library during fiscal year 2006-2007! In addition to these items, over 50,000 people entered the library to utilize print on our electronic reference resources. Partons can access the Internet through the Library’s fiber-optic connection, view a Library exhibit, attend one of the Library’s many events. The Mt. Carmel Public Library has the only genealogy collection in Wabash County, Illinois.  Staff is available to assist genealogy researchers during your visit.
